Test your microphone.

Hear your microphone before the call.

12 seconds per take · No sign-up · Audio stays in this tab

Watch the input here. Movement shows signal in this tab. Listen back to identify your voice.

Stay quiet for 3 seconds, then read for 9.

Microphone options

Ready. The microphone is requested only when you start the test.

Before the call

How the 12-second test works.

A moving wave shows a signal. Playback tells you whether it captured your voice. Use the same short test before a meeting, after connecting a headset, or when changing your recording setup.

Press Test my microphone, allow access, and follow the two recording prompts. Your microphone is released when the take finishes.

  1. 0–3 sec

    Let the room speak.

Stay quiet while the first section captures the background. Keep fans and other normal room sounds as they are.

  2. 3–12 sec

    Read the line.

Speak at your usual volume when the prompt changes. The wave shows the input reaching this browser.

  3. Then

    Listen to the recording.

Press play. Can you hear every word? Check for missing beginnings, loud background sound, pops or distortion.

Start with what you hear

What did you hear?

You do not need to change every setting. Follow the symptom, make one change, then test again.

The useful second take

Change one thing. Keep the rest.

Take A is your reference. Move closer to the microphone, choose a different input, or try one processing change for take B. Read the same line at the same volume, then use Flip A ↔ B to hear the same moment in each take.

Listen on headphones at a steady volume. If both the room and your voice get quieter, that alone is not an improvement. The useful question is whether your words are easier to hear.

Before you press record

Does MikeNet upload or save my voice?

No. Audio and results stay in this tab’s memory. Download a WAV or measurement receipt if you want to keep it. Clearing a take or leaving the page removes the local recording. See privacy.

Does a successful test mean my next call will work?

It means you could record and hear that input in this browser. A calling app can use another input, mute state or processing setup. Finish with a test inside the app you will use.

Can this tell me which microphone is best?

You can compare how two setups sound to you. The digital measurements describe the captured samples, not a universal microphone grade or calibrated room loudness. Read how the measurements work.
